About Me
I’m Sonica Mushi
I have BA degrees in Journalism and Psychology through RAU (South Africa) and UNISA (South Africa). I also have an AIM awards Level 2 Certificate and a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have experience in facilitating women’s groups, one-to-one counselling and couples counselling.
I’m trained in…
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for couples
Schema Therapy
Humanistic approach
CBT
Psychodynamic therapy
Bereavement counselling
I’ve also…
worked for non-profit organisations and in Private Practice including:
CPT in Covent Garden
MIND
Headstrong
Crossroads-Services (which is my Private Practice)
I also have an extensive history in volunteering with people in later stages in life, children, and families of people with chronic or terminal illness. As part of my CPD, I am undergoing further training in Schema Therapy, Attachment Theory and therapy for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Although I work with a wide range of issues, I particularly like working with trauma cases and narcissistic abuse.
My counselling practice is based in Hammersmith, London. I see a lot of clients from Shepherd's Bush, Chiswick, East Sheen, Barnes, Fulham and Putney and people who travel through Hammersmith for work as I'm a 2 minute walk from the Broadway – clients can easily drop in before or after work.
I have worked for a daily newspaper in South Africa before coming over to England. I have also worked in the legal field for 12 years. When I'm not seeing clients, I do volunteer work and write articles and parenting book reviews.
I operate under the BACP's code of ethics and am a registered member of the BACP. I can also be found on the Counselling Directory and on the Psychology Today websites.
